Examples might be Gwendolyn Brooks, Muriel Rukeyser, Bob Kaufman, Laura Riding Jackson, Lorine Niedecker, Audre Lorde, and Robert Hayden, among others. The panel analyzes notions of poetic mastery, the politics of neglect, and the ways in which teaching is a kind of canon-making.
