Muhammad Umar

Fall 2016 Session

Muhammad Umar is in his late twenties and has to still decide where he’s from. He spent half his life in the US, the second half in Pakistan, and is now back again in the US. He graduated from GC University Lahore in English Literature and had the opportunity to teach poetry there for a year. He started to write poetry only recently to connect and translate his nomadic spirit. Currently, he is living in San Francisco working with Landmark Theatres and has yet to revisit the Golden Gate Bridge. His favorite poets are Derek Walcott, Ted Hughes, and Philip Larkin.

Muhammad Umar worked with the poet Shikha Malaviya.
